It’s that time of year when we’re all enjoying high school graduation ceremonies, and everyone gets to show off pictures of their senior! Not only have I had my own senior this year, but I’ve been blessed to photograph quite a few this season. And I’m excited to introduce you to the senior who is the subject of today’s blog post.
Meet Olivia! Oliva is a proud home school graduate from Owens Cross Roads who loves theater and science. Maybe you’ve seen her before, she’s active is the local theater scene and is quite the actress! Her acting experience allowed her to be very comfortable in front of the camera which shines through in her senior portraits. Posing Oliva was a breeze. She took every pose and just ran with it- such a natural!
Oliva’s mom and sister came with her to the photoshoot at Hayes Nature Preserve. They kept the banter going which made for some gorgeous smiles and laughs! During the cap and gown portion of the shoot, they were all sweet and sentimental which just melted my heart. Having my oldest graduate this year as well, I knew exactly how this mama was feeling!
Hayes Nature Preserve in Hampton Cove turned out to be the perfect spot for this session. Spring was just taking off and beautiful wildflowers, which you can see in the gallery, were everywhere. The preserve gave us multiple backgrounds and a gorgeous golden hour. Between Oliva’s three outfits and the multiple backgrounds, we had a gallery with so much variety.
After receiving her gallery, I asked Oliva which outfit was her favorite. She said the black dress and I think I agree! It was the perfect contrast against the spring grass and flowers. And the images of her laying on the ground in the black dress were her favorites. She’s got good taste; her blue eyes really sparkle in those pictures!
When I asked Oliva how she felt when she saw her portraits, she said, “Speechless, I couldn’t believe it was me!” I think we can all agree that she’s gorgeous, but it makes me happy that she sees it too!
And here is her advice when planning your own senior session: “Pick out your outfits ahead of time and set them aside, it really saves time and it’s one less thing to worry about on the day of the photoshoot.” This is excellent advice!
